starving

just like paying taxes with all i have

to the country i tried to love

without saving myself a dollar

only to fill the stomach-

i slipped all the love between his teeth

until there's no love left to give

even only to convince myself

that i deserve the self-love

they bought a birkin bag out of my taxes

he spilled his feelings to the ground

before my eyes

now here i am,

starving.
